How to Use

Formula
Tip Amount = (Bill + Tax − Discount) × Tip %
Grand Total = Bill + Tax − Discount + Tip Amount
Per Person = Grand Total ÷ Number of People
Round Up: Per Person = ⌈Grand Total⌉ ÷ People

Frequently Asked Questions
In the USA, 15–20% is standard for good service. 10% is for poor service, 18% for good, 20–25% for excellent or exceptional service. In India, 10% is common; tipping is less mandatory than in Western countries.
Etiquette varies. In the USA, tipping on the pre-tax amount is technically correct but tipping on the total is increasingly common. This calculator lets you add tax separately so you can choose.
For equal splits, use the People stepper. For unequal splits (one person pays more), calculate the full tip amount, then manually divide based on each person's share.
Rounding up the grand total to the nearest whole number makes cash payments easier. For example, $100.89 rounds up to $101.00 — each person pays a slightly higher clean amount.
Yes! Select ₹ INR as your currency. In India, service charges of 5–10% are often already included in the bill. Check before adding a tip. If service charge is included, an additional 5–10% tip is appreciated.
